Understanding Dental Implants

A dental implant is a titanium screw placed directly into the jawbone, serving as a sturdy anchor for crowns and other restorations. This brief, minimally invasive procedure sets the stage for a smile that not only looks natural but feels natural too. Whether you’re considering your options or ready to transform your smile, we’re here to guide you through each step.

The doctor and all the staffs are very friendly and understanding. I am very happy with my overall experience. The doctor makes sure that the patient is comfortable and does not go through a painful experience. I realized that visiting to a dentist does not have to be very painful. The doc also explains every procedure and steps, which is very ensuring. Most importantly, I did not feel like my teeth are a disaster and I must fix everythinv right away, which has been my experience everytime I visited a dentist. But with Doc Hasan I did not feel that rush for going through all the treatment right away. I will visit again in future and recommend friends and fanily to visit Doc Hasan.

I’ve been going to this dentist for over 5 years and the staff have always been very time efficient and kind. My appointment is always at the scheduled time and doesn’t take excessively long. They also make sure to take care of me without causing too much pain which I appreciate after passing through the hands of many rough dentist offices. I highly recommend, especially if you live in the area.

The clinic was extremely helpful. I had some emergency work to get done before my wedding and the Doctor squeezed me in and got everything done on a very short timeline. The staff is very pleasant and worked with me to get my insurance figured out. Would recommend.

Highly recommended!! I recently moved to this area and registered at North Harwood Dental. I usually get nervous whenever I visit dentist because of problems like severe gagging , sensitivity, soreness in mouth etc. I told Dr.Hasan about this , he calmly said lets try and see , in every step he explained well about the procedure, my filling was done and it was really a great experience (with not much pain or gagging problem).I recovered in few hours. Dr.Hasan is very caring , knowledgeable and passionate about his work. I really had an amazing experience with North Harwood Dental and the staff is very friendly.

      Why Choose Dental Implants?

Losing a tooth can disrupt your smile’s alignment and lead to oral health issues, including bone loss. Dental implants offer a proactive solution to prevent these problems, enhancing both the function and appearance of your jaw and smile. They are the next best thing to your natural teeth, helping maintain facial structure and prevent the bone deterioration that often accompanies tooth loss.

      The Advantages of Dental Implants

      • Natural Look and Feel: Implants are designed to blend seamlessly with your smile, providing a permanent solution that looks and feels like your natural teeth.
      • Enhanced Comfort and Confidence: Securely fused to your jawbone, implants allow you to enjoy your favourite foods and smile confidently, without the fear of shifting teeth.
      • Improved Oral Health: Implants stimulate bone growth, preventing the bone loss associated with missing teeth and strengthening your jaw’s structural integrity.

Dental Implant Process at North Harwood Family Dentistry

      Assessment

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Hasan, who uses advanced diagnostic tools like 3D cone-beam CT scans to assess your jawbone and dental structure. This ensures precision in planning the placement of your implants.

      Implant Placement

During the procedure, you’ll be comfortable and pain-free thanks to local anesthesia. Dr. Hasan makes a small incision in the gum to insert the implant into the jawbone. Depending on the case, sutures may be used to help the healing process.

      Healing Phase

After placement, a period of healing allows your jawbone to fuse with the implant, a process known as osseointegration. This is crucial for the stability of the implant.

      Restoration

Once healing is complete, you return to our office. Dr. Hasan will then attach your custom-made crown, bridge, or denture to the implants, finalizing the restoration and leaving you with a functional, rejuvenated smile.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Your dental implants will be indistinguishable from your natural teeth. While they consist of titanium screws, these components are completely concealed beneath your gums and topped with realistic restorations that seamlessly integrate with your existing smile.

Dentures and implants serve distinct purposes and operate differently. Dentures sit atop your gums, exerting pressure on the bone beneath, whereas implants are anchored deep within the jawbone, enhancing the strength of your bite. Each tooth replacement option offers its own advantages and disadvantages. We advise a personal consultation at our office to determine the most suitable treatment for your needs.

For patients who may not be suitable for dental implants, dental bridges and full or partial dentures could provide effective alternatives for replacing missing teeth. The most effective way to explore the solutions tailored to your needs is to schedule an appointment with us. We are eager to discuss all available options and address any questions you might have.

To qualify for an implant, you need to be an adult with overall good oral health. Your jawbone must be robust enough to anchor an implant, and your gums and other supporting tissues should be healthy to minimize the risk of complications. If you’re unsure whether you’re a suitable candidate for implants, please contact us to confirm. Often, there are treatments available to improve your oral health and prepare you for an implant. Additionally, alternative methods for replacing missing teeth may be viable options.

Absolutely! Your dental implant can be crowned with a custom-fitted crown, bridge, or implant-supported dentures designed for your comfort. These tailor-made prosthetics are crafted to match the shape and color of your existing teeth and bite alignment. Many patients find it challenging to tell the difference between their natural teeth and their new, aesthetically pleasing dental implants.

The field of dental implants has advanced significantly since its inception, making it a highly predictable and generally pain-free process today. The procedure is carried out with meticulous precision, ensuring you experience minimal discomfort. Proper aftercare will lead to little swelling and scarcely any bleeding. Your physical and emotional well-being are both crucial to us. If you have any anxieties about your visit, please share them with us; we’re here to support you.

In many instances, you can resume work the day following your implant surgery. Once we have a clear understanding of your specific treatment details, we’ll be able to provide a more precise estimate of recovery time and advise if you need to allocate additional time off. We ensure that all post-operative care instructions are thoroughly discussed with you beforehand.

The longevity of your implants is largely influenced by how well you care for them. Like your natural teeth, they require professional cleaning and regular examinations. Typically, we suggest a check-up every six months, though we may adjust this frequency based on your individual needs.

Treat your dental implants as you would your natural teeth. This includes regular brushing and flossing, attending cleanings and check-ups, and promptly informing your dentist of any issues.

No, implants are not typically required to be replaced routinely. A dental implant is designed to be a long-lasting solution, intended to serve you for many years.
